This cookie recipe comes together so quickly. It will be on repeat at your place, especially if your kids (or you) love kinder bars.

If you love cookies as much as I do, check out my Caramilk Cookies or White Chocolate Macadamia Cookies.

Kitchen Equipment needed for Kinder Cookies

  • Electric hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Cookie sheet tray

Ingredients needed for Kinder Cookies

  • Unsalted butter – softened
  • Brown sugar – I used light brown sugar
  • White sugar – (caster sugar) to help crisp up the edges of these cookies
  • Large egg
  • Vanilla extract
  • Flour – all purpose flour (plain flour) measured correctly
  • Baking soda – also called bicarbonate of soda or bicarb soda
  • Salt – a little pinch is great in sweet bakes
  • Corn starch – also called called corn flour to help keep these cookies soft
  • Chocolate chips – I use milk chocolate chips to match the chocolate in the Kinder bars, but dark would work as well
  • Kinder bars – about 100g/3.5 oz is needed (8 bars)

How to make Kinder Cookies? (step by step with pictures)

Full instructions in the recipe card at the end of this post.

Preheat the oven to 180c/350F.

Place the butter along with the white and brown sugar in a large bowl to use with an electric hand mixer or the bowl of a stand mixer. Use the beater attachment to beat until light smooth and creamy.

Add in the whole egg and vanilla and beat again until incorporated.

Pour in the dry ingredients (flour, bicarb soda, salt and corn starch). Beat in until mixed through and the batter has formed into a dough.

Chop up the kinder bars and add those along with the chocolate chips to the cookie dough, mix well with a spatular or wooden spoon until the chocolate pieces are dispersed through the dough. Reserve some chocolate chunks to use on the cookies later or use extra chocolate chips.

Take heaped tablespoons of dough and roll into balls and place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment/baking paper. Place extra chocolate chips/chopped chocolate onto the cookies if using. Put in the oven to bake for for 10-11 minutes.

The cookies should be soft in the centre and lightly golden on the edges. The centres should be fairly soft as they will continue to cook and set on the baking tray.

Cool completely on tray or cooling rack before serving.

Tips for best results

Use room temperature ingredients to ensure everything mixes well together. To quickly warm up the egg you can place it in a bowl of hot (not boiling) water for 5 minutes to bring it to room temperature.

Measure flour correctly by fluffing up the flour with your flour scoop before scooping and levelling the flour. Or use a kitchen scale to accurately measure.

Don’t over bake the cookies, they should still be fairly soft in the centre, they will continue to bake and set while cooling.

Rotating a circle cutter around the cookie will help with shaping them if they’ve baked out of shape.

You can leave the cookies to cool on the trays (they will keep cooking which is fine) or place them on a wire rack to cool down completely.

Storing chocolate chip cookies

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container in room temperature for 5-7 days.

How to freeze cookie dough?

Roll cookies into balls and place apart on a tray. Place in the freezer for 1 hour or until the cookie dough has hardened. Place balls into ziplock bag or air tight container and freeze for up to 3 months, label the bag or container. Follow the recipe baking instructions and oven temperature but add 1-2 minutes extra as the dough will be baking frozen.

Substitutions and Variations

You can skip the Kinder chocolate and add a total of 1 cup of chocolate chips instead for a chocolate chip cookie.

After rolling into balls, place in the fridge for 1 hour before baking but keep the baking time the same for a thicker cookie with a softer centre.

You could use white chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate chips.

You could also try adding other Kinder products such as Kinder bueno bars, Kinder eggs, although I have not yet tried it myself.
