Modest Munchies Update

It’s been busy! Really busy! I’m sure it’s been the same in your neck of the woods too. Ramadan is the best of times but it’s also a busy time and then there’s Eid, even busier! Well with all that’s been happening I kinda forgot to tell you all some stuff. Yeah stuff! I said it! Stuff!!!

So here’s the ‘stuff’ you’ve missed out on.

My recipe for Sticky Date Macarons was featured by Australian Almonds in ‘Food Bloggers share their favourite ramadan recipes.

I wrote a guest post for Saffron Pudding for a Ramadan Round up she was doing. It was a bit of an insight into Eid in Australia and a recipe for these Walnut and Cream Cheese Dates. Yum!

I made a Baklava Cheesecake for Eid, I was inspired by this post on instagram. It was delicious, a recipe coming soon I hope.

I also made this cake. Actually, I made 2. I had been planning to make it for a little while now. Just when I started planning, an organiser at Islamic Relief Australia asked me to donate a cake for an auction they were holding at their fundraiser. So I made 2! Alhumdulillah the cake sold for $280 at auction. I also sold off the slices for the one below, you think you were helping me contribute to charity (and you were, it’s all been donated to Islamic Relief) but you also saved me from eating it all.

The Modest Munchies Facebook Page hit a big milestone, 500 likes. Don’t forget to go on and like the page if you haven’t already. In fact, Modest Munchies on Instagram did as well. Don’t ask me about my Twitter account, ain’t nobody got time for that.

I updated the Ramadan Activities post, go check it out to see all the fun we got up to during Ramadan.

I made these mugs for my husband as an Eid Gift.

Then this happened…

Clearly I didn’t get the memo about not putting hand painted mugs in the dishwasher (I did seal it though). Just looking at them makes me want to cry.

It’s been quiet around here because I’ve been in New Castle and Sydney this last week with family. We saw Nouman Ali Khan and Zaky. We also stayed in the beautiful Quay West Apartments in The Rocks, Sydney. Rumour has it Danii Minogue was staying their too, (by rumour I mean she was in the car next to us when we checked in). No, I didn’t get a selfie (I’m not into celebs). We didn’t even manage a selfie with NAK or Zaky either. We did get pictures with Zaky though, but pictures are just not the same as selfies, right? Having time away was fun. It’s good to escape the daily grind.

That’s all for now folks.

    Salaam my dear sister!
May Allah continue opening up avenues of success for you and your family 🙂
I’ve seen the mug idea floating around Pinterest for a long long time, and I too would probably unknowingly throw them in the dishwasher, lolllll
