Reading Challenge – Week 5

Can you believe there’s only 2 weeks left of the #littlemuslimsread Reading Challenge by Read Little Muslims? I sure can’t. I had a good week but it did make me realise I didn’t have a lot of books related to that theme specifically. I suppose a lot of book cover the 5 pillars in some way, whether it be with characters praying or talking about Hajj. I guess that’s the best way to teach little children, but I may have caught onto something. Anyone out there want to write a 5 pillars book? 😉 I’ll buy!

This week’s theme is #StoryfromtheQuran. Such a great theme, Mr Munchies reads a lot of Quran stories to a little one and honestly there’s been times where I’ve even learnt things through those stories from my son. I will be posting our collection on Instagram and Facebook, don’t forget to check it out and follow along.

Reading Challenge – Week 4

We are already half way through the Reading Challenge. Can you believe it? If you haven’t been following along, with 3 weeks to go bows your chance to kick into gear.

We were a little slow this week too. There’s always room to do better I say. Each week comes with a new theme and new chance to get motivated.

This week’s theme is #fivepillars . There’s 5 different things within this topic and hopefully a lot of books to suit. Shahadah, Prayer, Zakaat, Fasting, Hajj. I’m already thinking about the many books we have that would fit perfectly with any of those topics. I can’t wait to see the range of books you all share this week. As usual, remember, even if you aren’t participating you can follow along with the hashtag #littlemuslimsread, and books specific to this week’s theme with #fivepillars.

Reading Challenge Week 1

I wanted to tell you about this awesome challenge happening right now. Razeena from Read Little Muslims has put together a reading challenge like no other, a weekly challenge to encourage reading aloud to children with Islamic themed prompts to keep you guided and motivated. The challenge will run for 6 weeks in which you can share your books surrounding each weeks theme. Each week brings a new opportunity to read to your children and share your books and finds using the #littlemuslimsread hashtag. We’ll be checking out the posts and hoping to see a great range of books by everyone participating.

And the best part, you’re all invited!

Use this as an opportunity to learn, grow and read (aloud) with and to your children. Let this be the motivation to read and make it a habit that sticks around even after the challenge is over.

This week’s prompt is ‘Allah is the creator’. Share books about Allah and his creation. Books for big kids or little ones, even books that may not have an Islamic theme but can be used to discuss creation and all its awe.

Join me as I co-host this event and share the books I read to my kids. You can follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Make sure to keep updated with Read Little Muslims on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and don’t forget to follow my fellow hosts too.
